Child Support

Child support is a payment made by one parent to the other for the financial support of a child.

The primary carer of the child can make an application for the payment of child support by the other parent, under the Child Support (Assessment) Act.

The Department of Human Services is responsible for overseeing the collection and administration of child support  payments and the assessment of child support to be paid.

Parties can enter into two types of agreements instead of having a child support assessment:

  1. Limited child support agreement; or

  2. Binding child support agreement

We are able to assist in the preparation of an agreement between parties.  We can also assist with parties in relation to other child support services.
